Public-interest legal education with PLI
The Practising Law Institute (PLI) is a nonprofit continuing legal education provider offering live programs, webcasts, and on-demand content for lawyers and allied professionals. Ben serves as an uncompensated faculty member, teaching regular programs on leadership, negotiation, and other legal education topics.
PLI also operates scholarship, fee-reduction, and access programs for eligible attorneys and organizations, including nonprofit and legal-services staff, government and academic counsel, pro bono volunteers, and others with financial need.

Teaching at UVA Law
Ben has taught more than 1,000 students at the University of Virginia School of Law. His courses include Negotiation and Professional Responsibility. For more information about his current offerings, review his teaching faculty profile.
Public service in practice
Some of the most meaningful applications of this work happen outside traditional commercial engagements. Ben’s past nonprofit and public-interest work includes Lawyers For Children (LFC) in New York and the Virginia Indigent Defense Commission. His public-sector experience includes engagements with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).
Ben also contributes to the profession through uncompensated conference speaking, including appearances for the National Association for Law Placement (NALP) and the Professional Development Institute (PDI).
Sachs & Co. considers a limited number of pro bono, reduced-fee, and public-sector educational engagements each year. Availability is selective and depends on the organization, audience, and goals.
